Fruits of Past Labor Realized.
The 2013 Campaign - New Digs, a new home under the lights.
For the first time since it's Varsity inception, the Bulldogs would feature a new look. Gone are the days of the plain Navies and Whites, hello new Black away kits and Home Whites (thanks to a generous private donor). The JV and JH teams still sport the original nondescript Varsity Blues and Whites.
The team also was granted a new home... a true stadium that no other team in the MSHSL can boast. Brand new lights thanks to Palmer Wireless, and a new field (a reconditioned football practice field). The 'Stadium' was not truly finished until the bleachers were placed following the 2013 season, but thank goodness we have a real stadium!

Becker 2, Princeton 1
The Bulldogs took a solid first step this season when they traveled to County Rival Princeton and beat the Tigers on a small, fast pitch. On a very hot and humid day as the temps were approaching the Mid-90's, senior keeper Ben Gilchrist was consistent making 7 saves for the Bulldogs. Off of a broken play early in the match, Princeton's Travis Stevens put one in the back of the net. Nearing the end of the half, senior Attacker Zack Vieau netted his first goal of the season at the 31" mark for the equalizer. With Gilchrist keeping the Tigers honest, the half ended in a 1-1 knot.
The Tigers came on strong with the winds to their back in the second half. Senior Defensemen Tyler Kruse and Cody Stangler kept the swift attacks by Princeton hobbled and broken. The tempo of the game quickened as both teams felt pressured to get the next goal. Center Midfielder Brandon Croatt (SR) and Sweeper Bradley Bauer (SO) sank back into the D in order to aid against Princeton's strong sends - and that was what would make the difference in the game.
With the defense shored up, a quick break was sent upfield towards Tungland and the Bulldogs put Princeton on defense. In the 75th minute, Vieau put his second goal in. Becker settled in on Defense drawing all 11 back in order to help clear the ball and put the game on ice for Becker.
In the JV match, the strong goaltending by Noah Arrigoni (Fr) put the Bulldogs in position to win 3-0. The strong defensive play by Becker set the tone. The game was knotted 0-0 at half before Coach Baird's team put the Tigers on their heels.
The next game for the boys is home against North Branch at 5pm on Monday. JV @ BAC pending North Branch has a JV.

THe New Shield for 2013 |
Becker Soccer FieldsBecker High School is putting in a new Soccer Stadium with a combined track. The field is ready to go and we are anxiously awaiting August 26th - Our first home game. The entirety of the Stadium will not be fully ready come our first home game, but it will be easy to find - there is a 170 foot wifi tower that is attached to one of the stadium's lights.
Once the Soccer Complex is finished, Becker will boast 2 Varsity fields - our current field that is equipped with Scoreboard and moveable stands. The new stadium will have bleacher seating for 250 fans, a brand new Soccer-dedicated scoreboard, and Lights. For the first time since the Club was started back in 2000, Becker will be able to play Varsity Soccer at 7PM. No longer will our fans need to take work off early to watch the 4pm games! The fields are positioned on the 3rd baseline of our School's "Home Plate" as shown below on the map.
