Charting the growth progression
At the end of adolescence your son will start to develop rapidly in terms of height. This typically starts around the age of 12, but can be subdued until later in life. As their body will change, there are certain concerns that need to be addressed. The average male will see peak velocity of growth between 13-16 years of age. In other words, the floor sweeping jeans that you bought him in August are now capris at best in December.
There is no need to worry - it is natural. And by the time you send them off to college at age 18 - their jeans will fit them in length... but by the time they reach 22 - not in width. This means that the structure of the body is rapidly growing, but that does not mean that the ligaments and muscles are maturing at the same rate.
