How we plan our training sessions
Closed Skills
Happens within and environment that is stable, predictable, and has grooveable movements. The student begins when ready. It is designed to create consistent and repeatable habits and formation of skills.
Examples: Juggling, Cone Drills, Shots, Passes
Students will be allowed to be reassessed at any part of the season.
When there is a need, we respond with different ecercises that enhance drilling and repeatable movements to fit the skill to the player.

Open Skill
Happens within an environment that is ever-changing and unpredictable.
The student will be evaluated on adjusting, adapting, and anticipating the assessment or game sequence and changes in the environment. This is a difficult assessment to conduct in practice because the stress factors of a game are not in play in a typlical regimented practice. However, circumstantial play can be duplicated to a degree.
Examples: trapping a pass, redirecting play, Goal Kicks, receiving a pass, switching the field.
Most often, the Open Skill will happen during live play - and as a player succeeds, they are kept in the role. When they are found deficient, they may need to step down a level in order to gain skill and confidence in their role.
